Does this check for open recalls?
No. This build checks VIN format locally and prepares a reference preview. It does not connect to a recall database. The recall status always reads “Not checked.”
What happens to the VIN I enter?
It is kept in the current page’s memory for the form and preview. It is not added to a URL, saved by this application, or sent to analytics or a lookup service.
Why isn’t my VIN accepted?
This form accepts exactly 17 Latin letters and digits, excluding I, O and Q. Spaces are removed and letters become uppercase. It checks this format only, not a checksum or vehicle identity.
Can I download a full report?
No. The full-report button is intentionally disabled. The three preview cards are static placeholders, not report results or instructions to run anything on your device.
Where can I check actual recall information?
For U.S. vehicles, visit NHTSA’s official recall lookup (opens a new tab). For other markets, consult your manufacturer or local vehicle safety authority. We do not send your VIN to these sites.
